Green Brothers to Host 4th Annual
Celebrity Golf Tournament
Owensboro, KY (July 20, 2003) - NASCAR stars Jeff and Mark Green will head
back to their hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky to host the 4th Annual Green
Brothers Celebrity Golf Tournament. The day-long event is set to tee off
on Wednesday, July 30th at the Summit Country Club.
The tournament, through
the Green Foundation, has raised $250,000 in only three years since starting
the annual event. Proceeds from the event have
gone on to benefit such charities as the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA),
Children’s Miracle Network, Busch Series Ladies Association, Motor
Racing Outreach, Owensboro Speedzeum and other charities. In addition to
these organizations, this year’s tournament proceeds will also benefit
the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
Besides a fun-filled
day of golf, motorsports and movie memorabilia will be sold in silent and
live auctions throughout the day. A piston signed by
Ray Evernham, a Richard Childress Racing poster signed by Jeff Green, Robby
Gordon and Kevin Harvick, a “Road to Perdition” movie poster
signed by Paul Newman, and a 2003 Home Depot uniform signed by Tony Stewart
are just some of the great items up for auction this year. Teams will tee
off at 12:00 noon, with the driver auction and dinner portion starting at
5:30 p.m.
The list of celebrities
scheduled to attend the tournament is a strong one. Darrell Waltrip, Larry
McReynolds, Jeff Hammond, all of whom share space
in the television booth for Fox Sports, will take their swings in the event.
David, Jeff and Mark Green, Randy Lajoie, Michael Waltrip, Kasey Kahne and
Deborah Renshaw will also join in the day’s activities.
“Michael (Waltrip) started this tournament a few years ago, and we
inherited it from him to keep it going. We’ve averaged $80,000 in the
past three years, which has gone to help different charities in racing and
in Owensboro,” said Jeff Green, who drives the #1 Pennzoil Chevy. “It
is a lot of fun to do this every year, and it’s good to be able to
give back to these groups.” “We have a lot of help from our corporate
sponsors, especially from our primary sponsor, Deka Batteries, and Valor
Oil,” said Mark Green, driver of the #98 Deka Ford. “Valor Oil
is doing an awesome job organizing the event again this year. Keith Howard
(from Valor Oil) has worked very hard to pull all of this together, and we
really appreciate his help. We hope this year is our biggest yet!”
To join in the festivities, please call Keith Howard at 1-800-544-5823.
Individual golfers can play for $250 per person. Those who wish only to attend
the dinner and driver auction may do so by contacting Keith at the number

which includes the auction and autograph session, are only $50 per person.
