Green finishes 22nd in the Valley of the Sun

Avondale, Az.– Mark Green finished 22nd in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 on Friday night. The finish is the highest of the season for a Keith Coleman Racing entry.

Green started in 27th position and struggled with the handling of the #23 Vassarette Chevrolet early. But the team worked on the set up throughout a series of pit stops and by the end of the race Green said the car was handling well.

“It was as better at the end of the race,” said Green. “We had to go with a qualifying set up to be sure we got in the race and that cost us some handling in traffic.”

A record 14 cautions totaling 67 laps slowed the pace as Greg Biffle won the race with an average speed of 83.007 miles per hour. A total of 24 cars finished on the lead lap.

“This was what we needed,” said crew chief Kenneth Campbell. “We’ve had a tough few weeks and we needed a strong showing here to get us back on track.”

The team will look to build upon the momentum from this race at the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway next weekend.
