Green finishes 28th in rain-shortened SBC
250
West Allis, Wis. – Mark Green finished 28th in the
SBC 250 on Saturday in Milwaukee. The event was called when
a thunderstorm halted the race after 200 laps.
In a race that was remarkably free of cautions, Johnny
Sauter dominated the field. He started from the pole and
led virtually the entire race. Only two other drivers managed
to lead a lap, and those were set up by cautions.
"We didn't have anything for Johnny today," said
Green. "Nobody did. Rain was the only thing that could
stop him tonight."
The rain came about two hours into the race. It didn't
last long, but it was intense enough that the track was
thoroughly soaked. An attempt was made to dry the track
but heavy rains returned about 11:30 p.m. central time and
NASCAR called the event.
