Green looks to rebound in Second City
Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green will look to turn in
a strong qualifying effort behind the wheel of the #23 Boudreaux’s
Butt Paste Chevrolet after failing to make the field in
the Winn-Dixie 250 last weekend.
But it won’t be an easy task for Green. There are
54 entries for the USG Durock 300 this week at Chicagoland
Speedway. With the top 30 teams in owner’s points
locked into the field and an additional spot going to a
past series champion, Green is one of 23 drivers who are
vying for the 12 remaining starting positions.
“There are a lot of really good cars in the field
and we are going to have to concentrate on getting in,”
said Green. “It may hurt us a little early in the
race but we’ll make adjustments and get it back to
a race set-up through pit stops. You have to do whatever
you can to qualify because you can’t win from 44th.”
Green will be driving one of the cars KCR purchased from
Bill Davis Racing in the off season. It has not appeared
on a track for KCR this year.
“It’s a good car,” said Green. “We
just haven’t had a chance to run it yet. It should
perform well on the track for us in Chicago.”
The only practice will be held on Friday morning at 9
a.m. central time. Qualifying follows at 5:05 p.m. and will
air on Speed. The race will be air on NBC at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
