Green ready to race under the lights at
IRP
Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green will be racing under
the lights at Indianapolis Raceway Park this weekend. Green
will be attempting to qualify for his fourth consecutive
event behind the wheel of the #23 BMAR Support Our Troops
Chevrolet.
At just over two-thirds of a mile in length, IRP is one
of the shorter tracks on the series. For Green, the challenge
of driving on a shorter tracks is an added bonus.
“I’m ready,” said Green. “I love
racing at smaller tracks. You’ve really got to be
up on the wheel because every little thing is important.
At some of the larger tracks horsepower can cover your mistakes
but at a place like IRP that all equals out.”
The races will conclude an eventful week for Green.. He
co-hosted the Sixth Annual Green Brothers Celebrity Golf
Tournament sponsored by General Mills on Wednesday, August
3 at the Summitt Country Club in Owensboro, Ky. with his
brother Jeff. The event also included a silent auction to
raise money for different charitable organizations and a
meet-and-greet with celebrities.
Celebrity participants included Mark and Jeff Green, Jason
Keller, Randy LaJoie, Larry McReynolds, Kyle Petty, Stacy
Compton and his crew chief, Chris Rice, and BGN crew chief
Jay Guy.
“Jeff and I have so much fun with this event,”
said Green. “I’m always looking for an excuse
to hit the links anyway, but this is a great event. We have
the chance to play with a lot of the people we work with
and against, we get to talk to the fans and we raise money
for charity. I don’t know how it could get much better
than that.”
The Kroger 200 will air at 7:30 central time on Saturday.
It will be preceded by qualifying at 5:00 on Speed.
