Green prepares for Ameriquest 300
Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green will attempt to qualify
for his third consecutive race at the California Speedway
this weekend.
Last week Green qualified 33rd for the Food City 250 at
Bristol Motor Speedway. He miraculously avoided any collisions
on the track, finished on the lead lap and brought the BMAR
Chevrolet home in 28th position.
“Any time you can get out of Bristol with the car
in one piece, you’ve had a good race,“ said
Green.
It is more of the same this week for Green as he will be
forced to qualify on time behind the wheel of the #23 BMAR
Chevrolet. With 49 cars entered in the Ameriquest 300, Green
is one of 18 drivers competing for the 12 open starting
positions.
“We’ve gotten used to it by now,” he
said. “Every week we know that we are going to have
to race our way in so it certainly keeps us on our toes.
Some of the other teams can afford a hiccup during qualifying
but we’ve got to be perfect every time.”
“Mark will be fine,” said crew chief Jeff
Schmidt. “We’ve got a good car and Mark is more
than capable of laying down a great qualifying lap and having
a strong race.”
