Green eager for return to ‘Monster
Mile’
Eddyville, Ky. – You don’t always get a second
chance at something, so Mark Green is planning on making
the most of his second opportunity to race at Dover International
Speedway this weekend.
Green will be forced to make the field on time in the #23
Vassarette / BMAR Chevrolet. With 48 cars in the field,
he is one of 17 drivers competing for the remaining 12 starting
positions at the ‘Monster Mile.’
“We should be in good shape,” said Green. “I
know the guys have put a lot of work in this car and we
think we’ve got a chance to make some noise this weekend.”
Green felt he missed an opportunity earlier this summer
when a heim joint failed and caused the team to fall well
off the pace. He finished in 32nd position, but couldn’t
help thinking about what might have been.
“We had some pretty respectable practice times and
qualified well,” said Green. “I thought we had
a real chance to do something in the race but unfortunately
the equipment failed on us. Hopefully things will be different
this time around.”
Qualifying will air on Speed at 1:35 p.m. on Friday with
race taking place on Saturday at 1 p.m. on TNT. All times
are eastern.
