Mark
Green GEICO Racing Pre-Race
Notes
Mark Green on Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
“Of all the tracks that we go to, I think Las
Vegas would be my favorite track out of the first three
or four,” explained Mark Green. Green’s
last outing at the 1.5-mile oval came in 2001 when he
qualified 17th and finished 32nd after a vibration took
him out of contention only 13 laps from the end of the
race. “Ilmor Engineering gives us great motors
and our Dodge is good, so we should have a great run
in Vegas.”
Mark Green on Testing at Las
Vegas:
“I thought our test at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
went really good,” explained Green after returning
from the team’s two-day test session in early February. “Speed-wise,
there might have been one or two cars that were faster
than us, but the car drove well and I’m really
excited to go back there. Since we tested, everything
has been going good. Everybody is working well
together and having fun. Hopefully we’ll
be able to get our GEICO Dodge to Victory Lane in Vegas!”
Crew Chief Jon Wolfe on Their Vegas Vehicle:
“We’re taking chassis number 002 to Las
Vegas. We refreshed it this winter and it has a
new body on it by S&S Performance Fabrication. When
we tested at Las Vegas, we took chassis 002 and chassis
014. We had planned to bring chassis 014 back,
but it got tore up in California. Mark was real
comfortable with that car, so we tried to make this one
just like it. We moved the body around on it and
did a few things to make it identical to the other one
so we should be pretty good.”
Last Weekend’s Post-Race Rundown:
Paul Tracy proved why he is a champion after strapping
in behind the wheel of the No. 4 GEICO Dodge on Sunday
for the Telcel-Motorola 200 at the Autodromo Hermanos
Rodriguez in Mexico City, Mexico. The 2003 Champ
Car Series Champion started mid-pack and used his road-course
skills to power his way to the front at the 2.518-mile
road course, running as high as 3rd before being caught
up in a late race wreck relegating him to 37th in his
second NASCAR Busch Series start.
Mark Green’s Appearance Agenda:
Mark Green will participate in The Las Vegas Chapter
of Speedway Children’s Charities’ annual
NASCAR Driver Auction on Thursday, March 9th, at 6 p.m.
at Sam’s Town Live! in the Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling
Hall in Las Vegas. Last year, 17 drivers participated
in the Driver Auction and raised $150,000 for the children
of Southern Nevada.
